Ho Chi Minh City · S'gon
Hosted by Aimeric C.
A computer science round-table in Ho Chi Minh City on 21 September, focused on technical discussion, not AI. Hosted by Aimeric C. and the Nerd-snipe Saigon community, this twice-monthly meetup creates space for people who enjoy examining how software works, debating engineering choices and following difficult technical questions down the rabbit hole. The session runs from 7:00pm to 9:00pm ICT at S'gon, 26/16 Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm, Đa Kao, Quận 1. What to expect There are no scheduled talks for this session. Instead, the evening will follow an open, round-table format built around free-flowing but technical conversation. The group will begin by discussing topics proposed by attendees while everyone arrives. A language-agnostic programming problem may also be introduced to give the table something challenging to work through together. If attendance is high, the meetup may split into two tables to explore a specific subject in greater depth. Aimeric plans to share the possible topic and several guiding questions in the community’s WhatsApp group shortly before the meetup. Attendees should let the organiser know they want to join the chat, as direct access has been restricted to keep bots out. Possible discussion areas include: - Programming languages and language design - Algorithms and low-level computing - Well-designed abstractions - The practical conduct of software projects - Test-driven development and its trade-offs - Opinions and debates around languages such as Golang - Projects, implementation decisions and software craftsmanship The formal meetup may be followed by an affordable drink or late dinner. Anyone who would like extra time at the venue can also arrive early to co-work; the organiser expects to be at the coffee shop earlier that afternoon. Who it is for… Register for this event
