Databutton now ships every new app with a fully integrated database and authentication system, removing the need for external services that previously accounted for more than half of the platform's customer support tickets.
The update, announced on LinkedIn, brings native data persistence and user management directly into the AI-powered app builder's workflow. The integrated database is powered by Neon, a serverless Postgres provider.
Instant Persistence Without Setup
Every new Databutton app now includes a pre-configured database that requires no manual setup. Developers can immediately store and access data without connecting to external services like Supabase or Xano, which previously required separate configuration and often created friction during the initial build phase.
The platform's AI agent now handles data model setup and migrations directly, managing schema changes as applications evolve. This eliminates a common pain point in AI-assisted development where developers had to manually bridge the gap between AI-generated code and external database configurations.
Authentication follows the same pattern. User management, login flows, and session handling are built into every new app without requiring integration with third-party auth providers. The company says this addresses a significant source of complexity, particularly for builders who previously needed to configure services like Auth0 or Firebase Authentication separately.
Reducing Support Load
Databutton reports that external data and authentication setup issues accounted for over 50% of customer support tickets before this release. By moving these capabilities in-house, the company aims to reduce technical barriers for non-technical users while maintaining flexibility for developers who need custom configurations.
The integrated approach mirrors a broader trend in the AI builder space, where platforms like Lovable and Bolt are competing on how quickly users can go from prompt to working application. Databutton's move consolidates infrastructure that typically requires multiple service subscriptions into a single platform.
The update is available immediately for all new Databutton apps. Existing applications can migrate to the integrated database and auth system, though the company has not detailed the migration process in the announcement. The feature builds on Databutton's recent expansion of automation capabilities and support for Gemini models, positioning the platform as an end-to-end solution for AI-powered business application development.
The choice of Neon as the underlying database provider suggests a focus on serverless scalability and developer experience. Neon's Postgres-compatible architecture means developers familiar with SQL can work with the integrated database using standard queries and tooling, while the serverless model handles scaling automatically as application usage grows.
