Beehiiv Hits $30 Million ARR as Summer Release Event Looms

Newsletter platform Beehiiv has crossed $30 million in annual recurring revenue, CEO Tyler Denk announced on LinkedIn, as the company prepares to unveil more features at an upcoming Summer Release Event. The milestone comes on the heels of several product launches this year, including podcasts, webinars, and an updated MCP integration.

The revenue figure marks significant growth for the four-year-old platform, which has positioned itself as a Substack alternative with enterprise-grade features for independent publishers and businesses. Beehiiv now serves over 100,000 newsletters, according to industry estimates, competing in a crowded space that includes ConvertKit, Mailchimp, and MailerLite.

Recent Product Launches Build on Growth Tools

Since its last AMA with users, Beehiiv has shipped three major features. The platform added webinars, metered paywalls, and AI podcast hosting in April, allowing creators to host live events directly within the platform and convert newsletter content into audio using AI voices. The webinar feature integrates with Beehiiv's email system, letting publishers promote and manage registrations without third-party tools.

The company also launched MCP v2 with natural language segmentation and cross-platform data access. The Model Context Protocol integration, originally introduced earlier this year, lets users query subscriber data using plain English and connect newsletter analytics to AI workflows through tools like Claude and ChatGPT.

Beehiiv's podcast feature stands out by automatically generating audio from written posts. Publishers can choose from multiple AI voices, edit timing and emphasis, and embed episodes directly in newsletters. The system also creates RSS feeds for distribution to Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Summer Release Event Hints at More Features

Denk's post teased an upcoming Summer Release Event without providing details on timing or new features. The company typically announces major updates through quarterly product drops, suggesting the event could include multiple capabilities rather than a single feature.

Beehiiv has been aggressive in expanding beyond basic email tools. Its ad network connects publishers with brands, web builder lets users create landing pages, and growth tools include recommendation networks and automated referral programs. The platform's monetization features range from paid subscriptions to Stripe-powered storefronts.

The company also runs a media collective, recently adding Macro Talk, a financial newsletter from a former Wall Street Journal reporter. This strategy positions Beehiiv as both a platform and a publisher, similar to Substack's approach of combining technology with curated content.

Competing in a Maturing Market

Beehiiv's $30 million ARR places it well behind Substack, which reportedly generates over $100 million annually, but ahead of many niche competitors. The company differentiates itself through built-in growth tools, an ad marketplace, and integrations with AI and automation platforms.

The platform's focus on creators who want to scale beyond basic newsletters has attracted publishers like Morning Brew alumni and established media brands. Pricing starts free for up to 2,500 subscribers, with paid tiers adding features like custom domains, advanced analytics, and API access.

Denk invited users to submit questions for the AMA via a Reddit thread, continuing Beehiiv's practice of direct community engagement. The company has historically used these sessions to preview upcoming features and gather feedback on roadmap priorities.
