What to expect

Build an Agentic AI solution for social good at this month-long university hackathon in Singapore, running from 14 August to 18 September 2026.

Build AI that matters

Organised by SimplifyNext, the SimplifyNext Agentic AI Hackathon 2026 challenges university students to explore how autonomous, goal-oriented AI systems could address meaningful social problems. Teams will develop solutions around challenge areas including:

  • Mental health
  • Student success
  • Financial inclusion
  • Sustainable cities

The programme combines a competitive hackathon with structured training and mentoring from experts and industry leaders. It is designed for students from Year 1 through Year 4, across all faculties and schools. Participants must enter in teams of three to five, making it a strong opportunity to combine technical, product, design and problem-solving skills with friends or new collaborators.

Programme and key dates

The hackathon begins with a physical kick-off on 14 August, followed by training and mentoring between 17 and 28 August. Four in-person training sessions will take place at the National University of Singapore on 17, 18, 24 and 25 August, mainly during the evening from 7pm to 9pm. These sessions will also be recorded for later dissemination.

Teams will then move through a staged competition:

  • 14 August: Physical kick-off
  • 17–28 August: Training and mentoring
  • 7 September: Solution submission deadline
  • 11 September: In-person semi-final
  • 18 September: In-person finale

The format gives participants time to learn, test an idea, build a working AI solution and improve it with expert guidance before presenting it in competition. Prizes are available, although the event page does not specify categories or amounts.

Who should take part?

This event is for university students interested in Agentic AI, technology for good, smart systems and practical innovation. No specific course or faculty is required. It will be particularly relevant to students who want experience working in a multidisciplinary team, translating a large social challenge into a product concept, and taking that concept through submission, semi-final and finale stages.…
