What to expect

The 19th Biomedical Engineering Society Scientific Meeting (BES19SM) brings together students, academics, and professionals to advance the field of biomedical engineering through research presentations, expert talks, and competitive showcasing of student work. Taking place on 16 May 2026 at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore, this student-focused conference provides a platform for emerging researchers to present their work to a live audience and panel of judges.

What to Expect

BES19SM offers students a unique opportunity to present research projects related to biomedical engineering or life sciences. Gold, silver, and bronze awards, certificates of participation, and prizes will be awarded to presenters. The event runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with refreshments and lunch included in the $20 student registration fee. Both in-person and online attendance options are available.

Keynote Speakers

The meeting features two distinguished keynote speakers. Prof Li Jun from NUS Biomedical Engineering brings extensive expertise in synthetic and bio-based polymers, supramolecular self-assemblies, and their applications in drug delivery, nanomedicine, and biosensing. With an h-index of 73 and over 17,600 citations, including publications in Nature and Nature Biomedical Engineering, Prof Li has been a principal investigator advancing smart functional materials for biomedical applications.

Prof Jack Wong, founder of the Asia Regulatory Professional Association, brings over 25 years of experience in regulatory affairs, quality, clinical trials, and pharmacovigilance. His work spans medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and biological products, and he plays a leading role in the Asian Harmonisation Working Party (AHWP), developing regulatory affairs certification for students across industries, government, and universities.

Special Competition

Alongside the scientific meeting, the BES Video Competition invites students to create videos for BES with chances to win prizes. More details are available on the BES19SM website.
