About this event

What to expect

This hands-on workshop offers a practical introduction to running Kubernetes on Azure using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), with infrastructure defined as code using Pulumi. Whether you're new to container orchestration or looking to understand how Kubernetes fits into the Azure ecosystem, this session provides guided exercises that take you from cluster creation to application deployment.

What You'll Learn

Through practical, hands-on exercises, you'll work through the complete lifecycle of managing Kubernetes infrastructure on Azure:

  • Create an AKS cluster using Pulumi's infrastructure-as-code approach
  • Integrate Azure and Kubernetes resources in a unified workflow
  • Deploy containerized applications to your AKS cluster using safe, repeatable patterns
  • Manage infrastructure changes with preview capabilities and controlled updates
  • Tear down resources safely when you're finished

The workshop focuses on establishing practical workflows that form the foundation for more advanced Kubernetes topics. You'll learn how Pulumi manages both Azure platform resources and Kubernetes workloads together, giving you a cohesive approach to cloud infrastructure management.

Session Format

This is a guided, practical workshop led by Adam Gordon Bell, Community Engineer at Pulumi. The session combines demonstrations with hands-on exercises, allowing you to work through real scenarios as you learn. All participants will receive access to example code and a workshop recording.

Prerequisites

  • A free Pulumi Cloud account (sign up at https://app.pulumi.com/signup/)
  • Basic familiarity with containers and cloud concepts is helpful but not required

Who Should Attend

This workshop is ideal for developers, DevOps engineers, and cloud practitioners who want to understand how Kubernetes runs on Azure and how infrastructure-as-code tools like Pulumi can streamline cluster management. Whether you're considering AKS for your projects or want to modernize your infrastructure workflows, this session provides the foundation you need.

Hosted by the São Paulo Pulumi User Group, this online workshop welcomes participants globally. The hands-on format ensures you'll leave with practical experience and resources to continue your learning.
