What to expect

Learn how Caracal secures production AI agents with policy-based, attributable, revocable and auditable authorisation in this online LFDT Thailand talk.

AI agents often enter production with long-lived API keys, excessive permissions and no reliable way to answer a crucial question: which agent performed an action, and under whose authority? Taking place online on 2 October 2026 at 9:00 PM, this session explores why conventional identity and credential systems fall short, and presents an open-source architecture designed specifically for autonomous agents.

What the session will cover

The talk introduces Caracal, an open-source AI authorisation system being developed through the LFDT LFX Mentorship programme, with support from GitHub, Microsoft and Vercel. Its goal is to move agent security beyond simply handing credentials to workloads, instead checking authority at the point where an agent attempts to act.

The Caracal team will explain:

  • Why traditional API keys and identity models are insufficient for AI agents
  • What “authority” means within autonomous AI systems
  • The architectural design behind Caracal
  • How policy-based authorisation can limit agent actions
  • Approaches to attribution, revocation and auditability
  • Practical considerations when securing AI agents in production

The discussion will also examine the operational risks behind this work. A prompt injection, leaked credential or runaway agent can rapidly become a security incident, while incomplete evidence makes investigations and audits difficult. Existing identity providers can register an agent, secret managers can distribute its credentials and API gateways can route requests, but those components do not necessarily authorise every action the agent takes.

Speakers and format

This is an online network event and technical talk hosted by LFDT Thailand. Caracal team members Ryan Madhuwala and Shubham Sharma will present the project, alongside LFX mentees Mohammad Ali Haider and Ashutosh Singh, who will share their work on Caracal.…
