What to expect

AI promises to make impact measurement faster and more efficient—but does efficiency equal meaning? This seminar tackles a critical question for anyone measuring social impact in 2026: how do we ensure AI-driven measurement remains human-centred, inclusive, and genuinely useful?

Hosted by the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Oxford, this session builds on the influential Meaningful Measurement Playbook—a framework arguing that impact measurement should be non-reductive, inclusive, non-extractive, and empowering. One year after its publication, AI is reshaping the landscape entirely. This seminar asks whether these rapid technological advances support or undermine meaningful measurement practices.

What You'll Explore

The session examines the tension between AI's efficiency gains and the Playbook's human-centred principles. Does faster data processing lead to better understanding of social impact? Or does it risk amplifying the very problems the Playbook was designed to address—reductionism, extraction, and disempowerment of communities?
