About this event

What to expect

The Fourth UK AI Conference returns to Nottingham this September, bringing together early career researchers and PhD students working at the cutting edge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. Taking place 29-30 September 2026 at the Hilton Nottingham, this conference is uniquely organised by early career researchers for their peers, creating an environment where emerging talent can share work, build networks, and shape the future of AI research in the UK.

What Makes This Conference Special

This isn't your typical academic conference. The UK AI Conference is designed specifically for early career researchers and PhD students, providing a supportive platform to present research, receive feedback from peers, and connect with fellow researchers across multiple AI disciplines. The 2026 edition is supported by the Turing AI Fellowship: Somabotics Creatively Embodying AI, led by the University of Nottingham, ensuring high-quality academic standards whilst maintaining an accessible, collaborative atmosphere.

Submission Opportunities

The call for papers is now open, with two submission pathways designed to accommodate different stages of research:

Full Papers — For researchers ready to deliver a talk and publish their work in the Proceedings of Machine Learning Research (PMLR) as part of the official conference proceedings. This pathway offers the opportunity to add a peer-reviewed publication to your academic portfolio whilst presenting to an engaged audience of fellow researchers.

Abstracts — Perfect for poster presentations showcasing ongoing or emerging research. This format is ideal for getting feedback on work in progress, testing ideas, and sparking collaborative discussions with other attendees working in related fields.

Who Should Attend

This conference is designed for early career researchers and PhD students working in AI, data science, machine learning, or related computational fields. Whether you're exploring computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, responsible AI, or any other AI subdomain, you'll find a community of peers facing similar challenges and pursuing complementary research goals. Supervisors of PhD students are also encouraged to attend and support their researchers' development.

Networking and Community

Beyond the formal presentations, the UK AI Conference serves as a crucia
