About this event

What to expect

Codebar Norwich is bringing its free monthly coding workshop to Artlist on Thursday 16th July 2026, offering a welcoming, coach-led learning environment for anyone from underrepresented groups looking to develop their programming skills. Whether you're taking your first steps in tech or looking to level up your coding abilities, this supportive evening provides personalised guidance from experienced local developers in a relaxed, inclusive setting.

What You'll Learn

This workshop is entirely learner-driven — you choose what you want to focus on. Common languages and technologies include:

  • JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for web development
  • Python for general-purpose programming
  • WordPress for content management
  • GitHub for version control
  • Personal projects where you're stuck and need guidance

If you're unsure where to start, the organisers will help you identify the right path based on your interests and goals. No prior experience is necessary — just bring your curiosity and a laptop.

The Evening Format

6:00pm - Networking & Pizza 🍕
Arrive, settle in, and enjoy complimentary pizza and refreshments while meeting fellow learners and coaches. This 25-minute social period helps you connect with the community and share your coding goals in a relaxed atmosphere.

6:25pm - Paired Coding Begins 👩‍💻
Students are matched one-on-one with volunteer coaches who are working developers from the Norwich tech scene. You'll spend the next 90 minutes working through tutorials, debugging projects, or exploring new concepts at your own pace with dedicated support.

Leave with new skills, fresh confidence, and knowledge to carry forward to next month's session.
