What to expect

Discover how spec-driven development transforms AI-powered coding in real-world scenarios — from greenfield solo projects to complex brownfield client engagements. Join AI Agents Montréal online for an insightful talk by Fabrice Monnier, a senior Data and Cloud DevOps engineer who bridges the gap between theoretical AI workflows and practical implementation.

What You'll Learn

Most demonstrations of AI coding assistants showcase pristine new codebases with single developers — but that's rarely the reality. Fabrice will share his hands-on experience implementing spec-driven development across two very different contexts:

Solo and Small-Team Projects:

  • Using BMAD (Build, Measure, Analyze, Deploy) for project initiation
  • Implementing with OpenSpec and SpecKit frameworks
  • Streamlining workflows when you control the entire stack

Client Brownfield Engagements:

  • Adapting spec-driven approaches to legacy codebases
  • Working effectively when full governance processes aren't feasible
  • Finding quick wins without overwhelming overhead

Custom Claude Code Skills

Fabrice will demonstrate the custom Claude Code skills he's built to accelerate development without sacrificing quality. You'll see actual deliverables, workflow comparisons, and honest assessments of what works and what doesn't in production environments.

Who Should Attend

This session is ideal for developers, DevOps engineers, and technical leads working with AI coding assistants who want to move beyond toy examples. Whether you're building new products or maintaining existing systems, you'll gain practical insights on integrating spec-driven development into your workflow.

About the Speaker

Fabrice Monnier brings deep expertise in data platforms and cloud infrastructure, working across AWS, Azure, and Databricks. With a Master's degree in both Computer Science and Market Finance, he's spent years building scalable data platforms. Based in Brittany, France, he now explores the intersection of cloud/data engineering and AI tooling, sharing his experiments and insights on Substack and LinkedIn.

The session begins with a brief introduction to the AI Agents Montréal community before diving into Fabrice's presentation.
