About this event

What to expect

What happens when you put Miami's best builders in a room with a community organization fighting displacement, hand them real data, and give them one day to ship? This one-day Claude Code Impact Lab in Miami tackles climate gentrification head-on, bringing together developers, data scientists, designers, and civic technologists to build real solutions for Little Haiti — a neighborhood at ground zero for climate-driven displacement.

The Challenge

As sea levels rise, higher-ground neighborhoods like Little Haiti see land values spike, not because conditions improve, but because wealthier buyers migrate inland. The result? Displacement of the very community that built the neighborhood. The Little Haiti Revitalization Trust is bringing real problems to real builders, and on April 25th, participants will ship real tools back.

This is the third Claude Impact Lab worldwide, following San Diego (27 teams, working apps in one day) and Mexico City (114+ government datasets). Miami brings the sharpest focus yet: one community, one problem, one day. The Trust will present three real challenges facing Little Haiti. The room votes on one problem, and every team spends the day building solutions for that single challenge — attacking it from different angles, creating a concentrated wave of builders all pushing on the same wall.

What You'll Work With

Participants will access two data layers: public datasets from the Miami-Dade County open data portal (flood zones, property values, permits, environmental monitoring) combined with community-level data from the Trust. These are the numbers behind real people's homes, businesses, and futures. A GitHub repo with datasets and documentation will be provided, along with a Discord channel for coordination.

Who Should Attend

This event is for developers, data scientists, designers, founders, civic technologists, community organizers, urban planners, and students — anyone who believes AI should be pointed at problems that matter. You don't need to be an AI expert; you need a laptop and a willingness to build. Whether you're experienced with Claude Code or just getting started, the focus is on shipping impactful solutions.
