About this event

What to expect

A failure-first hackathon in London on 2 September 2026, where founders, operators and builders create gloriously flawed projects and learn by breaking them.

Taking place from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM GMT+1, Fuckup Nights London’s tenth event turns the usual hackathon ambition upside down. Instead of trying to build the next unicorn or present a perfectly polished product, participants are encouraged to make something that probably does not work, discover how badly it can break and have fun with the results.

What to expect

This is a playful, hands-on hackathon built around experimentation rather than perfection. You will have the opportunity to create without the pressure of producing a flawless outcome, explore what happens when ideas fail and reflect on the lessons hidden inside the process.

The evening is aimed at:

  • Founders and operators who want a refreshing alternative to conventional startup events
  • Builders interested in testing unusual ideas and learning through experimentation
  • Curious participants who are willing to make something, even when success is far from guaranteed
  • Professionals looking for open, low-pressure conversations about mistakes and failure

No specific experience level or technical stack is listed. The emphasis is on curiosity, building and embracing imperfection rather than arriving with a finished idea.

Meet the judges

Guy Butler is a software marketing professional working in data operations management. He helps organisations innovate while mitigating risk.

Nico Ward builds human–AI interfaces that reimagine how people learn and create with AI. He previously led personalisation at Healf, described by the organisers as a £100M-ARR wellbeing company.

A community that puts failure first

Fuckup Nights London describes itself as the UK’s largest failure-first community. Its events give founders and professionals a no-judgement space to discuss their biggest mistakes openly and reflectively, without the pressure associated with traditional networking. The community has already hosted nine sold-out events, each attracting between 500 and 1,000 registrations.…
