About this event

What to expect

The DevOps Society returns to London for their second meetup of 2026, bringing together infrastructure engineers and DevOps practitioners for an evening focused on two critical challenges facing modern teams: observing GenAI applications in production and optimising Kubernetes clusters at scale.

This in-person event, sponsored by Cast AI, takes place at Civo Tech Junction in Shoreditch, featuring two compelling technical talks from leading voices in developer tooling and cloud infrastructure. Doors open at 6PM with networking, food, and drinks, followed by presentations and extended networking opportunities at the venue and a nearby pub.

Featured Speakers

Carly Richmond (Developer Advocate Lead at Elastic) will explore how to observe AI applications using OpenLit and OpenTelemetry. As LLMs and GenAI systems move into production, teams need deeper insight into their behaviour. Carly will demonstrate instrumenting an AI agent application written in TypeScript, showing how to capture logs, traces, and metrics to identify usage patterns, detect errors, and troubleshoot production issues. Her practical approach covers the telemetry data needed to understand how LLMs interact within application ecosystems.

Kunal Kushwaha (Senior Developer Advocate at CAST AI) tackles a persistent problem: most Kubernetes clusters run at just 10% CPU utilisation, wasting significant infrastructure resources. He'll examine why Kubernetes automation often falls short, covering challenges around autoscaling, instance types, Spot capacity, and common mistakes with HPA and VPA. The session includes a live technical demo of Container Live Migration, where attendees will participate in a real-time demonstration of Pods running a video game being migrated across nodes without downtime—showing how to improve cluster efficiency without disrupting workloads.

Event Format

  • 6:00-6:30pm: Arrival networking with food and drinks
  • 6:30-7:10pm: First talk plus Q&A
  • 7:10-7:20pm: Refreshments break
  • 7:20-8:00pm: Second talk plus Q&A
  • 8:00pm onwards: Extended networking

This meetup is ideal for DevOps engineers, SREs, platform engineers, and anyone working with Kubernetes or AI applications in production. The relaxed format encourages discussion and knowledge sharing across the London tech community. Spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
