What to expect

Explore how LLMs encode concepts and learn about agent harnesses at AI Signals #34, a hybrid London meetup on 10 September 2026.

Running from 6:00pm to 8:00pm BST at Celonis SE, Lacon House, London WC1X 8NL, the evening combines technical talks, a break for informal conversation and a lightning-talk session. A live online option is also available for registered attendees, making the programme accessible beyond the room.

Talks and topics

The first session comes from Alper Nebi Kanli of Optimizely: “How LLMs Represent Concepts Internally: A Tour of the Geometry.”

Although large language models appear to predict one word at a time, their internal activations can contain surprisingly structured representations. This talk examines evidence that models encode concepts such as gender, sentiment and truthfulness as directions, and how those directions can be used to steer model behaviour. It then digs into a more fundamental question: what does it mean to call a concept “a direction”? Expect an accessible exploration of the geometry involved, why the chosen method of measurement matters and what that reveals about systems many people use every day.

After the break, Tun Shwe of Lenses.io presents “Understanding Agent Harnesses.” The scheduled programme concludes with lightning talks, with individual topics still to be announced.

This meetup is particularly relevant to people working with or learning about AI, machine learning, large language models, AI applications, data science and data analytics. The agenda will appeal to anyone who wants to look beneath the interface of an LLM or develop a clearer understanding of the systems surrounding AI agents. No specific experience requirement is stated on the event page.
