What to expect

Will you deliver justice when AI is on trial? This groundbreaking immersive theatre experience at St George's Hall transforms you from spectator to juror in a case that has never been tried before. When a driverless car causes a fatal accident, traditional legal frameworks crumble—and you must decide who bears responsibility when the driver is an algorithm.

In this 60-minute interactive courtroom drama, you'll hear compelling testimonies, examine evidence, and grapple with questions that Silicon Valley and legal systems worldwide are desperately trying to answer: Can artificial intelligence be held accountable? Should the programmer face consequences? Does liability rest with the company that deployed the technology? As autonomous vehicles and AI decision-making systems become increasingly prevalent, this case study forces us to confront the moral and legal complexity of our automated future.

What Makes This Experience Unique

Unlike traditional theatre, your participation shapes the narrative. Using voting paddles, you'll make tough decisions throughout the show—and your collective verdicts determine the outcome. This isn't passive entertainment; it's active deliberation on one of the most pressing ethical dilemmas of our generation. The experience draws you into witness testimonies, legal arguments, and evidence analysis with the weight of real consequence.

The production features script, staging, and creative direction by Agustina Videla and Pablo Destito, who have crafted a narrative that balances theatrical tension with genuine philosophical inquiry. The setting couldn't be more appropriate—St George's Hall, one of Liverpool's most iconic neo-classical buildings, lends gravitas to this futuristic legal proceeding.

Audience & Experience Level

This experience is designed for anyone aged 12 and over interested in artificial intelligence, ethics, technology law, or immersive theatre. No legal background is required—just an open mind and willingness to engage with complex questions. The show particularly resonates with tech professionals, ethicists, legal practitioners, and anyone building or thinking critically about AI systems. Parents should note that children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and the themes explore death and moral responsibility.
