About this event

What to expect

Explore how political campaigns can use AI for faster, more responsive organising without sacrificing public trust, accountability, privacy or human connection.

Taking place at Camp and Furnace in Liverpool on Monday 28 September 2026, from 2:30pm to 3:30pm (GMT+1), this focused Campaign Fringe session examines where AI creates genuine value for organisers, and where its use introduces risks that campaigns cannot afford to ignore.

AI efficiency without eroding trust

AI is already becoming part of the modern campaign toolkit. Used well, it can accelerate essential groundwork, manage repetitive tasks and give organisers and volunteers more time for the conversations that persuade people and strengthen relationships. The session will consider practical applications including:

  • Persuasion bots and AI-mediated campaign contact
  • Agentic workflows for coordinating campaign tasks
  • AI-generated content produced at scale
  • Faster, sharper and more responsive organising
  • Using automation to support relational organising

Alongside these opportunities, the discussion will confront the potential consequences of deploying AI at scale. That includes errors spreading quickly, gaps in accountability, data and privacy concerns, and resistance from people who do not want campaign interactions mediated by AI. The central question is not simply whether campaigns can automate more, but how they can do so while preserving confidence, responsibility and meaningful human engagement.

Speakers and perspectives

The announced line-up brings together political, campaigning and movement-building perspectives:

  • Kanishka Narayan MP, Minister for Artificial Intelligence (invited)
  • James Rees, Co-Founder of Movement
  • Hannah O’Rourke, Director of Campaign Lab

The event is supported by Movement and hosted by Campaign Lab. It is designed for political organisers, campaign professionals, volunteers, technologists and decision-makers who want a realistic understanding of both the gains and responsibilities involved in adopting AI. No specific technical experience is stated; the emphasis is on campaign strategy, implementation and trust rather than a hands-on software tutorial.…
