What to expect

Build, launch and grow an indie app at this free, in-person Shipaton meetup in Lagos on 12 September 2026.

Indie App Launchpad: Shipaton Lagos 2026 brings the global Shipaton experience to Ikeja for four focused hours of practical learning, app demos and builder-to-builder connections. Presented by Codable Meetup in collaboration with RevenueCat, the event is designed to help aspiring founders and independent developers move from an idea,or an unfinished project, towards an app that people use and pay for.

What to expect

The programme centres on three challenges that every indie app builder must solve:

  • Building an app people will keep using, with an emphasis on sustained value rather than simply getting to launch
  • Finding your first 1,000 users and thinking practically about early user acquisition
  • Monetising your app and creating the foundations of an independent app business

Alongside these conversations, attendees can expect app demonstrations and candid stories from local builders. There will also be opportunities to share what you are working on, exchange feedback and meet potential collaborators. The format sits between a meetup and a hackathon launchpad: it offers structured learning while leaving plenty of space for informal discussion, project discovery and networking.

Who should attend?

This gathering is open to anyone who has wanted to create an app, as well as builders curious about turning a product into an independent business. It is particularly relevant for people preparing an app submission for the global Shipaton hackathon or hoping to connect with others taking part.

You do not need to arrive with a finished product. Bring an idea, a work in progress or simply your curiosity. That makes the session useful for first-time app makers as well as active builders looking for practical insight into retention, growth and revenue.

Hosts and practical details

The event is hosted by Tobi Omotayo, Tomisin Oyegoke, Tife Omotayo, Chioma Amanda Mmegwa and Mojisola Adebiyi. Codable Meetup describes itself as an in-person community for Swift and AI engineers who want to share knowledge, build connections and develop their skills.…
