About this event

What to expect

Explore how AI is reshaping information overload at a one-day research workshop in Glasgow on 3 December 2026.

Hosted by the University of Strathclyde and co-organised with the universities of Wolverhampton and Southampton, this in-person workshop will share findings from OMINO, Overcoming Multilevel INformation Overload, a four-year interdisciplinary research project. Attendees will examine how information overload can be measured, modelled and mitigated as AI changes how information is created, discovered, filtered, interpreted and shared.

What to expect

The programme is expected to feature:

  • A keynote and research presentations from OMINO researchers
  • Work spanning AI, information retrieval, recommendation, social science, neuroscience, journalism, data mining and complexity science
  • Cross-disciplinary discussion and informal networking
  • A closing brainstorming session on emerging challenges, future research and continued collaboration

The workshop is designed for researchers, PhD students, academics and industry practitioners interested in areas including human-centred AI, search and recommender systems, digital media, cognitive science, user modelling and AI-mediated information environments. The final speaker line-up and programme are still being developed.

Registration opens at 08:30, with the workshop beginning at approximately 09:00 and closing around 17:00. It takes place in Conference Room 8 at the Technology & Innovation Centre, University of Strathclyde, 99 George Street, Glasgow G1 1RD. Places are limited, so advance registration is encouraged. The event is presented by NeuraSearch Laboratory.
