Women Who Build is a hands-on building evening in Dublin on 6 October 2026, helping women and curious creators turn ideas into working projects. Hosted by Give(a)Go, this practical three-hour session creates the time, space and supportive atmosphere you need to make progress on something of your own. Rather than spending the evening listening to talks, you’ll bring a laptop, choose an idea and get building alongside an ambitious community in Dublin. You do not need a polished concept or particular technical background to take part. The event celebrates women across every field, but everyone is welcome regardless of background, discipline or skill level. If you have been waiting for permission, momentum or a clear evening in your calendar to begin a project, this is an opportunity to start. If you do not yet have an idea, the hosts will help you find one. What you could build Your project can be professional, entrepreneurial, community-focused or entirely personal. Possibilities suggested by the organisers include: - A portfolio that reflects who you are and what you do - A landing page for a new project or business - A small tool that solves an everyday frustration - A website for a community, cause or personal interest - The side project you have repeatedly put off The focus is on turning an idea into something tangible. You can arrive at any stage, from a blank page to an existing project that needs a dedicated push, and use the main build session in whatever way is most useful to you. Build an agent that remembers The central workshop guides you through creating a memory-augmented coding agent with MongoDB. Using Jupyter Notebooks and a pre-configured development environment, you’ll work from templates and replace pseudocode with your own Python. Topics include: - Core memory types for agentic systems - Creating, reading, updating and deleting memories - Storage patterns that support reliable retrieval - Combining vector search with metadata, recency and other signals - Deciding when an agent should create, update or prune memories You’ll then move into a practical chunking, retrieval and reranking challenge. Taking place on 10 October 2026, from 11:00 to 17:30, Build for Ireland will bring 150–200 builders to Dogpatch Labs for a focused day of forming teams, developing ideas and shipping demonstrable AI projects. The event is delivered by OpenAI, Give(a)Go and Dogpatch Labs as part of Dublin AI Week and NDRC programming. What you’ll build The challenge is deliberately open: identify a real problem facing Ireland, use available public datasets and create something useful before the end of the day. Projects could explore: - Traffic and public transport - Public infrastructure and local services - Publicly available camera feeds - Ways to connect local businesses through MCP - Other practical opportunities to help Ireland work smarter Participants will build with Codex and other OpenAI tools, with OpenAI credits provided for project development.
