About this event

What to expect

Explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping journalism at this in-person panel debate for Cardiff University students on 20 November 2026.

Hosted by Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture, the session brings together perspectives from news, academia and media analysis:

  • Olle Zachrison, BBC News
  • Professor Charlie Beckett, LSE/Polis
  • Claire Holubowskyj, Enders Analysis

The speakers will examine the issues, challenges and opportunities AI creates for media organisations. Part of an MA journalism module, the wider series considers how new technologies intersect with business models, changing audience behaviour, ethics, diversity, impartiality, transparency, editorial decision-making and media regulation. Students will also hear about current journalism research from leading academics.
