About this event

What to expect

Explore how AI-powered deception is reshaping fraud, security and trust at this AI Wales evening meetup in Cardiff.

Taking place at 6:00pm GMT on Thursday 12 November 2026, the event features Jon Renshaw, Director of Security Research Services at NCC Group. He will lead a discussion covering:

  • Deepfakes and voice cloning
  • AI-enabled impersonation and social engineering
  • How to distinguish genuine content from generated material
  • Questions businesses should ask as deceptive technology advances
  • Ways to protect yourself without becoming suspicious of everything

Designed for anyone interested in the intersection of AI, cybersecurity and human behaviour, the session invites attendees to reconsider what they see, hear and trust. No specific experience level is stated, and the published format is a discussion rather than a hands-on workshop.

The meetup will be held at NatWest Accelerator, Floor 3, One Kingsway, Cardiff, CF10 3AQ. NatWest is sponsoring the event, and food, probably pizza, will be provided for various diets. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free needs are covered; contact the organisers at least one day beforehand for other dietary requirements.
