About this event

What to expect

Master Test Driven Development at this hands-on Coding Dojo hosted by Cambridge Software Crafters at The Bradfield Centre. Whether you're looking to sharpen your TDD skills or learn this essential software craftsmanship practice from scratch, this collaborative evening offers the perfect environment to code, learn, and connect with fellow developers.

What to Expect

This interactive Coding Dojo puts you in control of your learning experience. After a brief introduction, you'll have the freedom to work solo, pair program, or join small groups—whatever suits your learning style best. Choose your preferred programming language and dive into TDD exercises while expert crafters and experienced community members are on hand to share insights and best practices.

The focus is on collaborative learning rather than lectures. You'll practice writing tests before code, refactoring with confidence, and producing higher-quality software through disciplined TDD techniques. This is software craftsmanship in action: deliberate practice, peer learning, and continuous improvement in a supportive, judgment-free environment.

Who Should Attend

All experience levels are genuinely welcome. Whether you're a TDD veteran looking to maintain sharp skills, a developer curious about test-first approaches, or completely new to the practice, you'll find value in this session. The collaborative format means beginners can learn from more experienced practitioners, while seasoned developers benefit from fresh perspectives and discussions about edge cases and patterns.

Bring your laptop with your preferred language and editor already set up, and you're ready to participate. If you prefer to observe and learn before jumping into coding, that's perfectly fine too.

Evening Details

The session runs from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, giving you two full hours to practice, experiment, and network. Pizza and drinks (including vegetarian and vegan options) will be provided on arrival, courtesy of sponsor Codurance, so you can code on a full stomach.

The venue is The Bradfield Centre on Cambridge Science Park, a hub for tech innovation generously provided by Mantle Space. The relaxed, professional environment is ideal for focused coding sessions and developer discussions.

Feel free to bring friends—just ask them to RSVP so organisers can plan accordingly for food and space.
