What to expect

The inaugural 2026 Boston Orthopedic Technology Summit (BOTS) is set to transform orthopedic innovation by bringing together physicians, AI engineers, business leaders, PhD scientists, founders, CEOs, board members, and investment partners in Kendall Square, Cambridge. This two-day summit is dedicated entirely to orthopedic innovation, research, and surgical entrepreneurship, creating a collaborative environment where all participants engage as equals.

Event Highlights

BOTS features three distinct competitive tracks designed to accelerate orthopedic technology innovation. The BOTS Pitch Showcase invites startups to apply across two specialized tracks—MedTech and AI—with selection committees choosing 10 startups in each category to present their groundbreaking solutions. In partnership with MIT Hacking Medicine, the summit includes the Cambridge Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal Pitch Event for Technology Entrepreneurs (COMPETE) on Friday evening, followed by an intensive Hackathon on Saturday where teams can rapidly prototype solutions to real-world orthopedic challenges.

Distinguished Speaker Faculty

The summit convenes an exceptional lineup of industry pioneers. Tim Rowe, Founder and Executive Chair of Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) & Venture Cafe Global Institute, brings insights from building global innovation campuses that have supported over 3,500 companies raising $40B+ in risk capital. Dr. Stefano Bini, UCSF Professor and founder of the Digital Orthopaedics Conference (DOCSF), will share his expertise in the digital transformation of healthcare and AI-enabled clinical practice.

Dr. J.P. Warner, founder of MGH Shoulder Service and Harvard Medical School Professor, will discuss value-based care principles that drive measurable patient outcomes. Shahid Azim, CEO of C10 Labs (an AI Venture Studio from MIT Media Lab), will explore breakthrough AI applications in healthcare.
