About this event

What to expect

Boston Hackers brings together security researchers, developers, and tech enthusiasts for an evening of hands-on learning and community building in Brookline, Massachusetts. This monthly meetup focuses on practical security topics, hacking techniques, and technical exploration in a welcoming environment.

What to Expect

The April meetup features Ze Qin Qiu presenting "Exposing Sha1 Hulud or how I Learned to Love GitHub Actions" — a deep dive into GitHub Actions security. This talk will explore vulnerabilities and security considerations when building CI/CD pipelines, offering practical insights for developers working with automated workflows.

The evening follows a structured but relaxed format: arrive at 7:00 PM for socializing and pizza, settle in for the main presentation at 7:30 PM, then stick around afterward to hack on projects, discuss technical challenges, and connect with fellow attendees. Pizza and beer are provided, with vegetarian and vegan options available.

Who Should Attend

This event welcomes anyone interested in security, hacking, and technical exploration — from experienced security researchers to curious developers looking to expand their skillset. The community values technical depth over sales pitches and maintains a collaborative, educational atmosphere. Whether you're working on security projects, building automation pipelines, or simply want to learn from practitioners in the field, you'll find like-minded people here.

Community Guidelines

Boston Hackers operates under clear principles: don't hack the venue or each other without consent, keep discussions technical rather than promotional, and above all, be good people. This creates an environment where attendees can explore security topics openly while maintaining mutual respect.

Getting There

The venue is located at K logix headquarters in Brookline, easily accessible via the MBTA Green Line (Coolidge Corner station). Street parking, garage parking, and metered parking at the CVS lot (32 Centre Street) are available for those driving. An organizer will be outside to welcome attendees at the start of the event.

This meetup is generously sponsored by Scorpion Labs, who provide both the venue and refreshments. Learn more about the Boston Hackers community at hackers.boston.
