What to expect

Build production-ready data infrastructure for AI applications at this intensive hands-on workshop hosted by Aiven and Google Cloud in Berlin. Whether you're starting from scratch or scaling to production, this 3-hour session offers two specialized tracks designed to take your data engineering skills to the next level.

This interactive, instructor-led workshop is specifically designed for developers and data engineers who want to move beyond prototypes and build real-world data pipelines using open source tools. You'll work directly with industry-standard technologies including Kafka, ClickHouse, OpenSearch, and PostgreSQL to create functioning, real-time architectures.

Two Workshop Tracks

Foundations Track: Build Your Own Pipeline

Ideal for those new to streaming data infrastructure, this track guides you through assembling a complete data pipeline from the ground up. You'll learn to provision and manage services, connect systems into a unified pipeline, build observability setups, and query real-time data across services using SQL. This hands-on approach ensures you understand each component and how they work together.

Advanced Track: Real-Time Retail Streaming Pipeline

For experienced practitioners ready to tackle production-scale challenges, this track dives into a realistic retail use case. You'll design and implement high-quality streaming pipelines working with real-time retail data flows, applying best practices for scalability and reliability that you can take directly back to your own projects.

What You'll Master

  • Deploy and scale OpenSearch for production environments
  • Implement vector and hybrid search best practices
  • Build efficient real-time data pipelines that handle production loads
  • Design and optimize RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures for AI applications
  • Connect Kafka, ClickHouse, OpenSearch, and PostgreSQL into working real-time systems
  • Apply proven patterns for streaming, analytics, and observability use cases

Practical, Hands-On Learning

This isn't a lecture—you'll be shipping code throughout the session. Bring your laptop and be prepared to provision services, stream data, and run queries yourself using both UI and CLI workflows. The instructors will guide you through each step, ensuring you walk away with practical approaches you can immediately apply in your own work.

The event runs from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM,
