What to expect

Build a persistent, queryable memory layer for Slack at this hands-on AI hack night in Berlin, with €1,200 in cash prizes.

On Friday 14 August 2026, from 17:00 to 22:00, Cognee and Qdrant are bringing developers and AI builders together at Paul-Lincke-Ufer 39–40, Hof 4, to tackle a practical agent-memory problem.

Most agent memory starts as a Markdown file written for one user on one machine. That approach quickly breaks down when knowledge must be shared across a team, retained beyond a context window, governed by access permissions and connected across related decisions. A Slack workspace combines all of those challenges.

What you’ll build

Working solo or in a small team, you’ll connect Cognee’s open-source AI memory engine with Qdrant’s vector search to give a Slack workspace meaningful, durable recall. The complete pipeline will cover:

  1. Ingesting messages and threads from a Slack export or live workspace
  2. Transforming that history into typed, queryable memory with entities, relationships and provenance back to original messages
  3. Retrieving relevant information through Qdrant’s vector store
  4. Answering questions that keyword search or a stateless bot could not handle
  5. Compiling useful patterns into reusable agentic SKILLs

The system can run on hardware you control,an important consideration when the underlying corpus contains company conversations. You’ll also leave with a pipeline that can be adapted for Jira, Notion or your own codebase.

Format and support

Doors open at 17:00 for networking, followed by opening remarks and introductions to Cognee and Qdrant at 17:30. Hacking begins at 18:00, with API keys, sample datasets and team members from both companies available to help participants get unstuck. Bring your laptop.

Projects are due at 21:00. Selected finalists will then have two minutes to explain the memory problem they solved and run a live demonstration of their build. Presentations and judging begin at 21:15, followed by the awards ceremony at 21:45.

Prizes

The €1,200 cash pool is split across three places:

  • 🥇 €600
  • 🥈 €400
  • 🥉 €200…
