About this event

What to expect

The Berlin DevOps community is gathering at Enpal's office in Bödikerstraße for an evening of technical talks, food, and networking focused on platform engineering and DevOps culture. This meetup brings together engineers and engineering leaders to explore the practical challenges of scaling infrastructure and maintaining shared understanding as teams grow.

What to Expect

The evening features two compelling talks addressing real-world DevOps challenges. Pepijn Schoen will present "From ClickOps to Scalable Platform," sharing lessons from scaling a tech organization from 100 to 300 people. Drawing from experience with Azure infrastructure, the talk explores how to approach platform building as gardeners rather than architects—observing what works, replicating successful patterns, and allowing rituals to emerge organically before codifying them. You'll learn about the mistakes made along the way and practical takeaways for moving from manual resource creation to scalable platform engineering.

The second talk by Dayana Mick tackles "It works… but no one understands it: The hidden problem in DevOps." This session addresses a pattern seen across many companies: systems that function but aren't truly understood by those running them. The talk examines how teams end up running platform commands from memory, creating bottlenecks in platform teams, and how AI is accelerating this trend. It's particularly relevant for junior and mid-level engineers navigating DevOps complexity, as well as teams trying to scale tooling without losing shared understanding.

Who Should Attend

This meetup is ideal for engineers and engineering leaders working with infrastructure, automation, and platform engineering. Whether you're dealing with Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, or other DevOps tools, you'll find valuable insights on culture, decision-making, and scaling challenges. The talks are designed to resonate with anyone who has copy-pasted commands, watched them work, and decided not to ask further questions—a common experience in modern software engineering.

Schedule

Doors open at 18:00, with Enpal providing an introduction at 18:25. The first talk begins at 18:30, followed by food and beer at 19:00. The second presentation starts at 19:30, with networking and drinks continuing until the close at 21:00. This format provides ample opportunity to connect with fellow DevOps practitioners and discuss the challenges you're fac
