About this event

What to expect

How do you ensure AI-generated answers are accurate, relevant, and aligned with real user needs? This hands-on workshop tackles the critical challenge of improving Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems through Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF)—a technique that systematically enhances precision, robustness, and real-world alignment using human evaluation.

What You'll Build

Part III of the AI Service Center series moves beyond basic RAG implementation to teach you how to evaluate and optimize your information retrieval systems for production use. Through structured exercises, you'll learn to assess generated responses critically, construct meaningful feedback datasets, and refine both retrieval and generation pipelines to create AI assistants that deliver consistently high-quality results.

The workshop balances conceptual understanding with practical application. You'll gain hands-on experience evaluating AI outputs against real-world quality criteria, learn how to capture and structure human feedback effectively, and discover techniques for using that feedback to improve system performance. Whether you're building customer support bots, internal knowledge assistants, or document retrieval systems, these skills are essential for moving from prototype to production-ready AI.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is designed for developers, data scientists, and AI practitioners who have already completed Parts I & II of this series or have equivalent hands-on experience building RAG systems. You should be comfortable with fundamental RAG concepts and ready to tackle the more nuanced challenges of quality assurance and iterative improvement.

Practical Details

The three-hour on-site session takes place at the Hasso-Plattner-Institut in Potsdam, a leading research institution for digital engineering. The intimate workshop format (Building K, Room K-1.03) enables direct interaction with instructors and collaborative problem-solving with fellow participants. The session runs from 2:00–5:00 PM CET, giving you the afternoon to dive deep into RLHF techniques without disrupting your morning schedule.

This is Part III of a comprehensive series offered by the AI Service Center Berlin-Brandenburg, an initiative supporting organizations across the region in adopting and implementing AI technologies effectively. The center provides hands-on training, consultation, and reso
