About this event

What to expect

Explore current AI research from San Diego State University in this two-hour online meetup covering robotic agents, open-world learning and autonomous systems.

Taking place on 14 October 2026, from 9:00–11:00 AM PST, the programme features three research-led talks:

  • Agent as Policy for Robotic Manipulation, Professor Xiaobai Liu introduces Agent as Policy (AGP), an approach that allows a general-purpose agent to plan and execute physical robot tasks without task- or environment-specific training.
  • Grounding Multimodal Open-World Learning for Physical AI, Associate Professor Salimeh Sekeh and PhD student Mary Wisell examine out-of-distribution detection, distribution shifts and cascaded semantic grounding for robots, unmanned vehicles and embodied agents operating in unpredictable environments.
  • Model-Free, Position-Free Signal Source Seeking Using Unmanned Maritime Systems, Associate Professor Zahra Nili Ahmadabadi presents extremum-seeking control approaches that help low-cost autonomous unmanned vehicles locate signal sources across unknown, highly non-convex maps.

Hosted by the Amsterdam AI Machine Learning and Computer Vision Meetup, this virtual session is particularly relevant to researchers, practitioners and students interested in AI, machine learning, computer vision, robotics and autonomous systems. The online meeting link is available to registered attendees.
