RISE AI Latin America Summit 2026

Santiago

Hosted by University of Notre Dame / Universidad de los Andes

RISE AI Latin America Summit brings academia, industry and government to Santiago on 20–21 October 2026 to advance responsible AI across the region. Co-created by Universidad de los Andes and the University of Notre Dame, in partnership with institutions across Latin America, this two-day conference focuses on a defining question: how should AI be built, governed and shared so that it serves communities and the common good? It offers a regional forum for perspectives that can influence both Latin American priorities and the wider global conversation. The RISE AI framework The programme is organised around four connected principles: - Responsible: establishing accountability throughout the AI lifecycle, from data and model training to deployment and use, while aligning systems with human values and community needs. - Inclusive: reflecting different communities, languages, cultures, disciplines and lived experiences, and giving people affected by AI meaningful opportunities to shape it. - Safe: creating reliable, secure and robust systems that actively reduce harm, prevent misuse and address unintended consequences. - Empowering: using AI to expand human capability, strengthen communities, improve access to opportunity and augment rather than diminish human agency. These principles provide a practical basis for discussing innovation, governance and institutional change in a region where questions of access, sustainability and development are already urgent realities. Themes and perspectives The summit will convene contributors from universities, companies and public institutions across three highlighted tracks: - Education: skills development and institutional transformation - Health & Biotech: innovation spanning health and engineering - Business: AI adoption and governance models The wider context includes Latin America’s research capabilities, entrepreneurial momentum and public-sector demand. Attendees can expect a cross-sector conversation that connects technical progress with accountability, social impact and the realities of implementation. The event page also includes a call for abstracts, creating an avenue for relevant work to contribute to the summit discussion. Who should attend?… Register for this event

Santiago · Hotel Mandarin

Hosted by Red Hat

Red Hat Summit: Connect Santiago 2026 explores how enterprises can adopt AI while retaining control of their data, infrastructure and technology strategy. Taking place on 27 October 2026 at Hotel Mandarin in Santiago, this Red Hat conference is designed for technology leaders and enterprise IT professionals working through the practical complexities of artificial intelligence adoption. It will be particularly relevant to teams operating at scale or within regulated industries, where governance, security and control cannot be treated as afterthoughts. What to expect The programme examines enterprise AI through an open-source lens, focusing on how organisations can pursue innovation without surrendering control of their underlying systems. The published themes include: - Data sovereignty and the enterprise AI challenge, considering the relationship between AI strategy, organisational data and infrastructure control. - Industry-specific applications, exploring AI in the context of real operational requirements rather than as a one-size-fits-all technology. - The open-source approach to enterprise AI, looking at how open technologies can support enterprise adoption and long-term flexibility. This is more than a high-level strategy conference. According to Red Hat, Summit: Connect offers access to technology experts alongside hands-on learning opportunities with Red Hat solutions. Attendees will also have options to meet Red Hat partners and exchange ideas with peers facing similar implementation questions. Who should attend? The event is aimed at technology decision-makers, enterprise architects, infrastructure and platform teams, cybersecurity professionals, and IT leaders responsible for introducing AI into complex organisations. It should also be useful for practitioners assessing how data sovereignty and industry constraints affect architecture choices. View the event and registration details

IE&T Hackathon 2026

Santiago

Hosted by IE&T Chile

IE&T Hackathon brings 200+ high school students to Santiago on 26–27 September 2026 to turn ambitious ideas into working demos. Build something real in one weekend Organised by IE&T Chile, this two-day student hackathon is the next edition of Nido Hack. It is designed as a weekend of hands-on creation rather than a class: participants form teams, choose a problem, develop an idea and ship a demo with support from mentors, judges and practical workshops. Students can explore several kinds of projects: - Software and AI tools - Hardware ideas - Business concepts - Social-impact solutions Challenges will span AI for good, student life, climate and sustainability, health and wellbeing, business and entrepreneurship, plus an open track for ideas that do not fit neatly into a category. Who should take part? The hackathon is for high school students from schools across the network. No coding or previous hackathon experience is required: initiative and a willingness to build are what matter. Students may apply alone and find collaborators on site, or register with a team of up to four people. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop, charger and an idea if they have one. The event builds on Nido Hack 2025, where 40 students created 11 projects and four internship prizes were awarded. The 2026 edition aims to expand that model across multiple schools and welcome more than 200 students. Format and judging The proposed Saturday schedule begins with check-in and breakfast, followed by an opening talk covering the theme, rules and tracks. Team formation leads into the main build period, when mentors will work directly with teams. Workshops on AI, prototyping and pitching are planned, followed by an evening progress review. Detailed timings and venue logistics remain subject to confirmation, but the event dates are final. Final projects will be assessed on: - Understanding of the problem - Creativity and potential impact - Feasibility and technical execution - Clarity of the presentation This combination of making, mentoring, workshops and judging gives students an opportunity to practise teamwork, product thinking and pitching while producing something tangible. The organisers aim to make participation free with sponsor support; confirmed cost and logistics will be published once settled.… Register for this event
