About this event

What to expect

A practical responsible AI talk for product teams, taking place in Manchester on 12 January 2027 with Kirsten Osborn.

Hosted by the Manchester Statistical Society, “Your AI works, but should you ship it?” examines the risks teams need to consider before releasing an AI-powered product. Kirsten will draw on real-world AI product failures to explain what responsible AI means in day-to-day product development, not just in theory.

Topics include:

  • Biased decisions and unintended user harm
  • Privacy breaches and AI hallucinations
  • The consequences of AI failures for users and product companies
  • Simple ways to incorporate responsible AI into product thinking and development

Kirsten Osborn (MBA, CMgr FCMI) is a senior leader in commercial, product and AI transformation with nearly 20 years of experience in technology and consulting. She has led technology businesses and teams of up to 45 people, and helps small and medium-sized businesses adopt AI in practical, measurable ways.

The talk is particularly relevant to product teams, technology leaders and professionals responsible for adopting or shipping AI. No experience requirements are stated.
