About this event

What to expect

The future of Power BI development is being redefined by AI agents — and this Manchester meetup dives into what that means for ownership, capability, and control. Whether you're a seasoned Power BI developer, work with Microsoft Fabric, or simply want to understand how AI tools are transforming business intelligence workflows, this event offers practical insights you won't want to miss.

What You'll Learn

The evening features two in-depth talks from practitioners working at the cutting edge of AI-enabled analytics and enterprise data architecture:

Talk 1: We're All Middle Management Now: AI Agents, Ownership, and the Future of Power BI Development — Alan Harman-Box explores the real-world capabilities and limitations of AI agents in Power BI development. AI can now build reports, write DAX, and structure data models — but what happens when you need to own, debug, or modify what these tools produce? Alan shares hands-on experience with AI agents, distinguishing between what genuinely works and where reliance becomes risky. This talk challenges you to think critically about delegation versus capability in the age of generative AI.

Talk 2: Forge in Fabric — Bob Pearman, Head of Platform and Engineering at Forge Holiday Group (formerly Sykes Cottages), presents how his team is powering self-service analytics, AI, and data products securely using Microsoft Fabric. The talk focuses on implementing medallion data architecture and Data Vault 2.0 methodology in Fabric, sharing lessons learned from their journey and practical strategies for building safe, scalable analytics platforms.

Who Should Attend

This event is ideal for Power BI developers, data engineers, business intelligence professionals, and anyone working with Microsoft Azure or Fabric who wants to understand how AI is reshaping data workflows. Whether you're exploring AI agents, implementing enterprise data architectures, or simply curious about the future of analytics development, you'll find valuable takeaways.

Event Format

Doors open at 5:30pm with talks starting promptly at 6pm. The session won't be streamed live but will be uploaded to the PBIMCR YouTube channel afterwards. Complimentary drinks and pizza are provided by sponsor Robert Walters, served around 7:45pm. E
