A 24-hour, in-person space cybersecurity hackathon in Madrid, building practical defences for Europe’s satellites, GPS and telecom networks. Build under pressure, solve a critical challenge THE SIGN 2.0 Space Cybersecurity Hackathon brings together specialists from across the space, cybersecurity and telecommunications sectors to address cyberattacks against critical infrastructure in orbit and on Earth. From 20:00 on 28 October to 20:00 on 29 October 2026, participants will have 24 hours to develop practical software or hardware solutions that strengthen the security of satellites, navigation systems and communications networks. This is an in-person, build-focused event rather than a conventional conference. The challenge is to turn technical expertise and ambitious ideas into working solutions within a tightly defined timeframe. Participants can expect to collaborate across disciplines, tackle security problems specific to the space environment and contribute to the wider resilience of Europe’s space assets. Who should take part? The hackathon is designed for people and organisations ready to work on demanding, real-world cybersecurity challenges, including: - Satellite engineers applying their knowledge to active security threats - Cybersecurity professionals and ethical hackers testing their skills on space-specific systems - Telecom experts focused on protecting communications infrastructure - Startups and technology pioneers developing bold, practical approaches - Space agencies, defence stakeholders and academic researchers working to improve European space resilience No particular experience level is stated, but the technical mission and 24-hour delivery format make this especially relevant to participants comfortable contributing specialist knowledge, building prototypes and working intensively with multidisciplinary teams.
