About this event

What to expect

This hybrid meetup features two talks exploring the practical power of Microsoft's Power Platform and the essential art of building resilient, self-healing software systems. Whether you're interested in using tech for social good or designing more robust applications, this evening offers valuable insights for developers at all levels.

Power Platform for Good - Making a Real Impact

Melissa Hale shares her journey from a scientific, non-technical background into a developer role at a consulting company, demonstrating how she's used Power Platform to transform the digital infrastructure of "Collaboration for Kids", a charity focused on healthier choices for children and adults. Through engaging storytelling and live demos, you'll see how an intranet and process automations were created using Microsoft Business Applications, Power Automate, and SharePoint to reduce manual workloads and improve communication.

Non-profit organisations face constant pressure to optimise operations while focusing on their core mission. This talk demonstrates how your existing technical skills can make a tangible difference, covering real-world examples of Power Platform in non-profits, strategies for collaboration and user adoption, and practical tips for working with diverse stakeholders.

Building Self-Healing Pipelines

Faith Sodipe introduces the concepts behind systems that can detect problems and recover automatically without constant human intervention. As software systems grow increasingly complex, designing for failure and recovery becomes essential for building trustworthy applications. Through simple examples and real-world analogies, you'll learn how observability, automation, and intelligent decision-making combine to create resilient systems.

This session covers what "self-healing" means in modern software development, why designing for failure is critical, the core components of a self-healing pipeline, and practical approaches for gradually introducing resilience into your existing systems.
