What to expect

Search Me! Leeds brings five SEO experts to Platform in Leeds on 17 September 2026 for an evening on AI search, user behaviour and digital strategy.

As search traffic shifts, algorithms evolve and AI changes how people discover information, this in-person event offers a candid look at what SEO practitioners need to understand next. Organised by Shelley Walsh, Search Me! is designed to replace some of the uncertainty surrounding modern search with practical insight, informed debate and honest conversation.

Five perspectives on the future of search

The programme brings five international specialists to Leeds, each examining a different part of the changing search landscape:

  • Dawn Anderson explores how users actually search in 2026 and what information retrieval can tell us about the current state of the discipline.
  • Arnout Hellemans examines the search engine results page as a signal system, and the clues it has been providing all along.
  • Malcolm Slade considers why brand may be the only durable defence against algorithmic sameness.
  • Kristal Ireland explains what good digital strategy looks like when platforms, behaviours and expectations keep moving.
  • Jono Alderson tackles the bigger structural question: if machines no longer need the web to resemble a collection of documents, what does that mean for everyone whose work has been built around that model?

Together, these sessions move beyond isolated ranking tactics to address user behaviour, brand differentiation, digital strategy, information retrieval and the impact of AI and machine learning on the wider web.

Who should attend?

The event is particularly relevant to SEO professionals, search marketers, digital strategists, content specialists, brand teams and anyone responsible for responding to AI-driven changes in online discovery. It will also appeal to people trying to make sense of falling traffic, changing SERPs or the role websites will play as machine-led interfaces become more influential.…
