What to expect

The GenesisCare Symposium 2026 brings together oncologists, radiation oncology professionals, and cancer care specialists for two intensive days exploring how artificial intelligence, MRI-guided radiotherapy, and digital communication are transforming modern oncology practice. Hosted by GenesisCare UK, this Leeds conference combines cutting-edge clinical education with practical implementation strategies for advanced cancer treatment technologies.

Friday Workshops: Deep-Dive Clinical Training

Attendees choose between two specialist half-day workshops led by international experts. The reirradiation workshop features keynote speaker Stefanie Corradini, professor of radiation oncology at the University of Munich and ESTRO reirradiation taskforce member, covering patient selection criteria, clinical workflows, and case studies from GenesisCare's leading reirradiation programme. Alternatively, the brain metastases workshop includes a keynote from Liam Welsh, consultant clinical oncologist at the Royal Marsden Hospital, examining multi-disciplinary approaches that integrate stereotactic radiosurgery with systemic therapy and surgical intervention as intra-cranial disease control becomes increasingly critical.

Saturday Main Programme: AI, MRI Innovation & Digital Medicine

The Saturday sessions open with two powerhouse keynotes on artificial intelligence in cancer care. Professor Jim Welsh from MD Anderson Cancer Centre presents "Smart synergy: combining radiation and artificial intelligence to unlock immunotherapy response," followed by Jorge Reis Filho, Chief AI and Data Scientist at AstraZeneca, discussing "Transforming end-to-end clinical development in research and development through AI." A panel discussion then tackles the practical challenges of implementing AI in UK cancer services.

The MRI-guided radiotherapy session showcases GenesisCare's clinical experience and ongoing trial delivery in this rapidly evolving treatment modality. The day concludes with a refreshingly different session: "The attention economy: why oncologists may not like social media, and how to fix it" from Dasha Angelova and Martini Sui at TalkingPulse, addressing how clinicians can navigate digital communication effectively.
