What to expect

Understand how the EU AI Act affects AI products at this online briefing for founders, technical leads, product managers and compliance advisers on 15 September 2026.

Hosted by Cinthify for the Demystifying AI Governance Dublin community, this practical session translates the Act’s risk-based framework into concrete decisions for teams building and deploying AI. The event runs online from 12:00 to 13:20, combining a presentation and panel with an interactive Q&A and networking discussion.

What the session covers

The opening section explains the EU AI Act’s four regulatory tiers and the obligations attached to each:

  • Unacceptable risk: banned uses including social scoring, subliminal behavioural manipulation and emotion recognition in workplaces or schools.
  • High risk: systems used in recruitment, credit scoring, medical devices, educational admissions and critical infrastructure. Requirements include risk management, data auditing, logging and human oversight.
  • Limited risk: chatbots, AI coding assistants, synthetic media and deepfakes, with transparency disclosures and content-watermarking requirements discussed in the context of August 2 enforcement.
  • Minimal risk: applications such as spam filters, video-game NPC behaviour, and basic search or recommendation engines, where voluntary codes of conduct apply rather than mandatory obligations under the Act.

The event will also examine the difference between requirements already being enforced and milestones still ahead. Current obligations covered include notifying users when they are interacting with an AI system and the statutory AI literacy training requirement under Article 4. Looking forward, the panel will discuss national AI regulatory sandboxes for testing high-risk models under legal guidance, plus upcoming compliance oversight for standalone high-risk applications and AI safety components.

Practical guidance for AI teams

Rather than stopping at legal concepts, the session provides an operational framework that builders can apply to their own products. Attendees will receive a risk-classification decision tree designed to help determine which regulatory tier an AI system falls into. This is especially relevant given the stated penalties for non-compliance: up to €35 million or 7% of global annual turnover.…
