About this event

What to expect

AI in Science Summit 2026 brings science, industry, investment and policy leaders to Dublin on 14–15 September 2026.

Coordinated by University College Dublin and Taighde Éireann–Research Ireland, AIS26 will examine how artificial intelligence is transforming scientific discovery, and how Europe can lead that transformation through a distinctive, responsible approach. The summit offers a high-level setting in which research priorities, commercial opportunity, public policy and Europe’s competitiveness in AI can be considered together rather than in isolation.

Why AIS26 matters

AIS26 is both an official Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union event and a flagship summit of European AI Innovation Month. This gives it a particularly strong European focus: attendees can expect discussion of AI not simply as a research tool, but as a strategic capability with implications for scientific disciplines, innovation and Europe’s position on the global stage.

The summit’s themes are relevant to:

  • Scientists and research leaders exploring AI’s role in discovery
  • Industry leaders developing or adopting AI-enabled innovation
  • Investors assessing opportunities at the intersection of AI and science
  • Policymakers shaping responsible research, innovation and competitiveness
  • Organisations working across European research and scientific infrastructure

European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation Ekaterina Zaharieva frames the ambition around RAISE: developing powerful AI models, applying them across scientific disciplines and strengthening European competitiveness so that the EU remains at the forefront of AI and science.

A cross-sector European summit

Rather than addressing AI from a single technical or commercial perspective, AIS26 is designed to bring together the people who fund, govern, build and use scientific AI. Its summit format and cross-sector audience make it especially suitable for experienced professionals, institutional decision-makers and research stakeholders who want a broader view of the opportunities and responsibilities surrounding AI-driven science.…
