What to expect

Explore how AI, employment law and employee wellbeing are reshaping HR at this expert panel in Cardiff on 1 October 2026.

Hosted at The Open University in Wales from 9:00–11:00, The New HR Agenda brings together specialists in employment law, AI, wellbeing and business transformation to examine what rapid workplace change means in practice. The event is delivered in partnership by the Wales HR Network and Beam Development and Training, supported by FinTech Wales.

What the panel will cover

As organisations adopt AI while responding to new laws and higher expectations around workplace culture, HR leaders face both opportunities and difficult questions. The discussion will explore:

  • How AI can support recruitment, learning, workforce planning and employee experience
  • Responsible and fair use of AI in the workplace
  • Legal considerations surrounding AI-assisted decision-making
  • Burnout, digital overload and the pressures of modern working
  • Where workplace technology can improve wellbeing, and where it may hinder it
  • Proposed UK government reforms, flexible working and changing employee rights

The focus is on practical implications rather than technology in isolation: how organisations can embrace innovation while protecting fairness, wellbeing and a people-first culture.

Expert speakers

The panel features four perspectives from across law, transformation and workplace wellbeing:

  • Owen John , Employment Law Partner, Darwin Gray
  • Simon Drinkwater , Founder & Director, Vantor Advisory
  • Dr Julia Jones , Founder & CEO, Holidity
  • Andrea Jones , Founder & Director, VisVira
