About this event

What to expect

Join the Bristol tech community for an inclusive, fortnightly coding session where developers of all experience levels come together to work on personal projects, learn new technologies, and collaborate in a relaxed social atmosphere. Whether you're debugging a side project, exploring a new framework, or just starting your coding journey, Hack Night provides the perfect environment to make progress alongside fellow developers.

What to Expect

This isn't your typical structured meetup — Hack Night is designed to be flexible and social. You can work independently on that passion project you've been putting off, pair up with someone to tackle coding challenges together, or explore new technologies through hands-on practice. The format encourages organic collaboration while giving you the freedom to focus on what matters most to you.

The evening begins with informal socialising at DeskLodge's ground floor from 18:00-18:30, followed by a brief intro session. The main hacking session runs from 18:45-20:15, with an outro to wrap things up. Important: Please arrive by 18:30 for introductions, as the venue reception closes after working hours and late arrivals may not be accommodated.

Who Should Attend

Hack Night welcomes everyone interested in programming and web development — from experienced developers to complete beginners, from backend specialists to design-focused creators. Whether you're proficient in multiple languages or just curious about learning to code, you'll find a supportive community here. All you need is a laptop (probably) and either a project to work on or something you'd like to study.

The Hack Night Philosophy

The term "hack night" refers to a casual social coding event where people work on projects and learn technologies at their own pace, in any language, at any skill level. It's the ideal opportunity to dust off those back-burner projects that never seem to get attention during busy work weeks. Some attendees bring well-defined personal projects, others prefer pairing up to learn collaboratively, while some work through online coding challenges or tutorials. The common thread is a welcoming, judgement-free environment where knowledge sharing happens naturally.

Community and Support

CodeHub Bristol runs this event as part of their broader mission to support local developers through workshops, mentorships, and study groups. You can join the conversation on the #hacknight cha
