What to expect

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Bristol is hosting a practical AI workshop designed specifically for academic staff working in health and life sciences education. This hands-on 3-hour session will be led by Rob Thatcher and Aisling Tierney, providing faculty members with essential skills and knowledge for integrating AI into their teaching and research practices.

Taking place in Rooms E2.1 and E2.2 of the Biomedical Sciences Building on the University of Bristol campus, this workshop offers a focused, in-person learning environment where participants can engage directly with AI tools and methodologies relevant to health and life sciences education. The session is structured to provide both theoretical understanding and practical application, ensuring attendees leave with actionable insights they can implement in their academic work.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is primarily aimed at academic staff members within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Whether you're looking to incorporate AI into your curriculum design, explore AI-powered research tools, or understand how artificial intelligence is transforming health sciences education, this session will provide valuable guidance tailored to the unique needs of academic professionals in these fields.

Workshop Details

The workshop runs for 3 hours, providing ample time for comprehensive coverage of key topics, hands-on activities, and Q&A sessions with the facilitators. Places are limited to ensure quality interaction and personalized attention, so early registration is strongly encouraged. The Faculty is committed to ensuring attendance — a £10 fee will be charged to the School of any registered attendee who doesn't show up, reflecting the value placed on these limited spaces.

As part of the Health and Life Sciences Education Network's ongoing programme to support faculty development, this workshop represents an important opportunity for academic staff to stay current with emerging technologies that are reshaping healthcare education and biomedical research. The facilitators bring expertise in both AI applications and health sciences education, making this session particularly relevant for those working at the intersection of technology and life sciences teaching.
