Governing Algorithms for Care brings together researchers, healthcare professionals, legal scholars, and technologists for two intensive days examining how AI is reshaping healthcare delivery — and how we can ensure these powerful systems serve patients responsibly. As algorithms increasingly influence diagnoses, treatment recommendations, and care pathways, fundamental questions around fairness, accountability, and patient autonomy demand urgent attention. This interdisciplinary conference addresses the complex governance challenges at the intersection of AI, medicine, law, and ethics. Whether you're developing medical AI systems, shaping healthcare policy, or advocating for patient rights, you'll find sessions tackling the practical and philosophical questions that matter most in this rapidly evolving field. What to Expect The programme spans presentations, workshops, and panel discussions exploring how AI in healthcare can be regulated, designed, and deployed to protect fundamental rights while enabling innovation. Expect rigorous academic insights alongside practice-oriented case studies from those implementing these technologies in clinical settings. Core themes include: - Health equity and fairness — addressing algorithmic bias and ensuring AI benefits all patient populations - AI regulation and compliance — navigating emerging legal frameworks and standards - Data protection, accountability, and liability — understanding who is responsible when AI systems make mistakes - Ethical design in medical technologies — building values into algorithms from the ground up - Patients' rights in AI-driven care — preserving autonomy, informed consent, and transparency Who Should Attend This conference welcomes contributions from across disciplines. Legal researchers examining healthcare regulation, medical practitioners integrating AI into clinical workflows, ethicists concerned with algorithmic fairness, and technologists building healthcare systems will all find relevant sessions and valuable networking opportunities. The organisers explicitly encourage interdisciplinary and practice-oriented contributions, recognising that governance of healthcare AI requires dialogue between law, medicine, ethics, and technology. If you're working at any of these intersections, this conference offers a rare opportunity to engage with others tackling similar challenges from different perspectives. Submit Your Research The

Explore the environmental, social and economic cost of AI in a hands-on World AI Week workshop in Amsterdam on 5 October 2026. Part of World AI Week 2026, this practical four-hour session looks beyond AI hype and productivity gains to ask a more difficult question: what does using AI actually cost? Attendees will examine the energy, water, data, governance and social consequences behind AI systems, and learn how to make more informed decisions when building or using AI products at work. What to expect Rather than framing responsible AI as an abstract debate, the workshop combines awareness-building, practical examples and a hands-on building exercise. It is designed to help participants understand the systems they rely on without making them feel guilty for using AI. During the session, you will: - Develop a clearer picture of AI’s environmental, social and economic costs - Explore simple tracking tools, comparisons and discussion prompts that make AI usage more tangible - Learn to use AI more efficiently, including the practical skill of context-window management - Build a solution during the hands-on portion of the workshop - Leave with approaches you can continue applying and share within your organisation The exact programme will be announced closer to the event. Pizza and drinks will be provided, creating space to continue the discussion and meet others interested in responsible AI, sustainability and practical product building. Who is it for? The workshop takes an accessible, practical approach and is relevant to people who use or build with AI and want to understand its wider impact. This is a “ladies first” event: everyone is welcome, but women will receive priority to attend. The event is organised by Marta from Ladies Build With AI, a community helping women gain practical AI skills by building real-world projects, together with Madalina Buzdugan, a sustainability director who helps fast-growing companies turn sustainability and AI from buzzwords into strategy. Explore how to build fast, secure AI systems powered by real-time data at this World Summit AI side event in Amsterdam. Taking place on Tuesday 6 October 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00 GMT+2, Intelligence in Motion brings SourceHive to Europe for the first time. The session tackles a pressing technical and organisational question: how can teams develop intelligent systems at speed without losing control of the data behind them? Affiliated with World Summit AI Amsterdam 2026, this two-hour event combines candid panel discussion, a live technical demonstration and audience-led conversation. The Amsterdam venue is still to be announced. What to expect The programme begins with a 30-minute, fast-moving panel debate examining secure, real-time data intelligence from three distinct perspectives: - The Visionary will unpack the architecture behind real-time data intelligence and explain why security should be designed into a system from day one rather than added later. - The Practitioner will address operational realities including data leakage, compliance pressure and the cost of getting AI governance wrong. - The Ecosystem Connector will connect current technical work with the direction the wider industry needs to take. Speaker profiles for the full panel are due to be announced. Following the debate, Hood Khizer, Chief Science Officer at AHOY Technology, will lead a live, on-stage demonstration showing how secure data intelligence moves from an abstract concept to a working system in real time. The final part of the session opens the floor to attendees. Rather than limiting participation to a short, formal Q&A, the organisers want the room to challenge assumptions, raise difficult questions and share what is happening inside their own projects and organisations. Who should attend? This event is designed for people already working deep within AI and data architecture as well as those beginning to navigate real-time data systems. It will be particularly relevant to developers, architects, technical leaders, AI practitioners, governance and compliance professionals, founders, creators and technologists interested in building responsible intelligent products.… Register for this event
